NewTek Unveils TriCaster(TM) Certified Operator Program

NewTek today introduced a certified operator program for live video
producers who use TriCaster(TM). Live video production experts can
qualify for the program by completing and passing the certified
operator exam. The 75-question multiple choice and multiple response
exam covers nine skill and knowledge areas. Certified operators will
be listed on the NewTek website as live production and streaming
professionals who meet the NewTek standards of excellence.

The TriCaster all-in-one production system is a standard in the live
production and streaming industry. The system has played a central
role in the live production and delivery of programming from the NBA,
ESPN X Games, MTV, VH1, FOX News, along with TV and radio stations,
schools, houses of worship, government agencies, and more. TriCaster
certified operators provide a qualified talent pool of proven
production experts that can be called upon to produce and deliver
live content at all levels.

The TriCaster certified operator program will kick-off with a free
event at the Future Media Concepts Training Center in Orlando on
Wednesday, January 25th at 6:30pm EST. Don Ballance, NewTek’s
worldwide director of training and education, will present an
overview of TriCaster 850, along with lessons from the TriCaster
curriculum. The presentation in Orlando will be streamed live to all

PS Vita vs. future iPhone 5 platform

While it’s hard for some gamers to believe there are people considering buying a PS Vita or a new phone like the iPhone 5, which wouldn’t even be an option a few years ago although neither would the type of graphics and gameplay seen in the Vita for handheld gaming.

Let’s get the obvious points out the way first and most notably is the PlayStation Vita can be considered a true gaming device, and phones are not dedicated for portable gaming. The iPhone 5 (a common name used while it’s in fact the 6th generation iPhone) is expected this year partnered with games reaching new levels via iOS apps, and high spec hardware.

Then we have price – the PS Vita is around half the cost of an iPhone 4S in the UK and the iPhone 5 is expected to be around the same price. You get many extras inside an iPhone and the 6th generation device is expected to include a lot more than the minor 4S upgrade, although the same can be said for the PS Vita and enhancements for gaming that are not seen on an iPhone or other high-end phones.

Some people just don’t get it – as we said above there are people seriously considering an iPhone 5 or PS Vita this year, and this is made possible thanks to the vast amount of games found on the App Store and in some cases users have already collected a massive amount of iOS games, which makes the choice between buying a PS Vita or iPhone 5 even easier. When budgets are tight some casual gamers see an iPhone 5 with improved graphics as a better option, and the device can also be their phone, GPS, web browser and help with many other tasks.

Samsung iPad Killers To Be Unveiled At MWC?

Rumors about the iPad 3 suggest that Apple has plans to bring out an awesome tablet to stay at the top of the market this year as well. But that does not mean that the task is going to be easy. It appears like Samsung has been secretly designing not one, but two different tablets (maybe even more) and the new slates will likely be unveiled at the upcoming Mobile World Congress later this month.

Two unknown devices, with model numbers GT-P3100 and GT-P5100, from the South Korean manufacturer have got Wi-Fi certifications issued by the WiFi Alliance.

Although these devices are being listed as smartphones, the GT-P prefix suggests that we might be looking at new additions into the company’s tablet line-up. Models beginning with GT-P7 have been part of their Android tablet range. Yes, the prefixes differ slightly, but Samsung might be trying to throw us off the trail here.

We doubt whether one of these devices is the earlier rumored monster tablet from the company which is said to be equipped with a quad-core Exynos processor and a 2560 x 1600 display that measures in at 11.6?. And the other one might end up as their answer to affordable slates like the Kindle Fire.

Whatever these are, we believe that MWC will witness at least one Samsung tablet introduced. We will let you know when any new info arrives prior to that. So stay tuned.
