Within the last year, You Tube put their foot down and begun shutting down videos guilty of copyright infringement. This doesn’t happen automatically. However, if a video becomes popular, and if the author of the music or the owner of the copyright sees the video and makes a complaint, then it will be shut down. This has happened a number of times, even with popular videos that suddenly lost their appeal overnight, when You Tube yanked the audio portion of the tape.

However, this needn’t happen to you. If you are editing your video footage, you can find a number of sites on the Internet offering royalty free music clips, which you can use for your background.

This site provides free to use MP3 music clips by a musician. He only requires that provide a link to his site and or mention of his site. There are a total of 30 songs available. Some of the songs are vocal some instrumental, and the artist is talented, even if he didn’t quite make it as a pro musician there are sections of each clip which do sound pro. If you find the right sound to suit your video, it will make a nice background.

This is a free sound effects library. There are a wide variety of free to download sound effects ranging from baby cooing to crowd noises to applause. The clips range in length from 1 second to more than 20 seconds. But the nice thing about them is you can reuse them on your audio time line to stretch out the length of the effect.
